About the Artist

Sandy is a Minister of Walking Prayer and Shaman, called to serve Creator and all beings — from the Star Nation to the tiniest Earthen, and beyond into the Great Mysteries. She cares deeply for humanity, the animals, and the plants, knowing these are our relatives, and that with them we are complete.

Her initiations into Shamanism came through sacred medicine received from a Lakota Medicine Woman and an American-Tibetan Shamanic Priest during a time of deep personal suffering. Integrating her Hopi heritage with these teachings and the wisdom of shamans and elders who have walked beside her, sacred gifts have been given to her over time to keep her on this path.

A health event in recent years brought Sandy to a profound crossroads — a revisiting of her Earth Walk and how she is called to serve. Today, her prayers are spoken, written, and painted. When she paints, her intent is to capture the spiritual essence of each Divine being or place and infuse that feeling into you — so that it becomes your spiritual or emotional moment. Her art has become her primary ministry: a living prayer offered to all who receive it.

This sacred creative life expresses itself through watercolor, ink, and acrylic — in originals and fine art prints that celebrate animals, nature, picturesque places, and the boundless imagination. Living in Taos, NM since 2008, Sandy has participated in the Artist Open and Artist Selects Fall Art Festivals, the Artists in the Town Hall Show, and Taos Artists Organization Studio Tours. She was previously represented at Paint Horse Gallery in Breckenridge, CO, and prior to moving to New Mexico, became an award-winning artist through the Artists Helping Artists exhibitions in Los Angeles, with work shown at The Brewery Artist's Colony, Pharmaka Art Gallery, and Lankershim Art Gallery.
